Spotify’s Lossless Audio Tier Nears Release After Years of Delays

Spotify’s highly anticipated lossless audio tier, first announced in February 2021, appears to be closer to launch. Recent asset file leaks suggest the feature is still in development, with mentions of “Lossless” music quality found in the latest PC version of the app.
This upcoming tier will reportedly offer music in up to 24-bit/44. 1 kHz FLAC files.
Playback at this quality is expected to consume approximately 1 GB of data per hour. Early reports indicate that this feature might be bundled into a “Music Pro” subscription.
This new tier could cost an additional $5. 99 per month.
It may also include advanced features like remixing tools and early access to concert tickets. Users will require compatible headphones and a wired connection to fully experience the lossless audio.
While these leaks provide renewed hope, the long delay since the initial announcement means users are advised not to get their hopes up too high. The service will launch when it is deemed ready by the company.
